These shortages have had a significant impact on the healthcare industry and have had impacts on the elderly in our communities. Many elderly individuals are not able to access much needed services and supports. Due to this, iformal supports, (i.e. family and friends) have been called upon to provide much needed assistance for our elderly. For some informal supports, they are providing more assistance than previously expected, and have become "burned out." As a result, these caregivers have suffered adverse effects on their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This workshop will address these impacts as well as resources and assistance for these informal support providers. Objectives: Identify the impact of the workforce shortage on the mental, emotional, and physical health of caregivers.
