    Three participants per workshop are welcome to attend (HSP Approved Clients encouraged). Quality time is key, so first come - first serve. Arrive by at 9:00 am.  Come as if you are going to a job interview, dress business casual. If you do not own clothing that you feel is appropriate for an interview – that’s okay – this is something that we can help you get.  Please bring any resumes or a listing of your job history (go back 10 years) plus any references with their contact information.  Also, note any education or special skills training that you have received. This will help you get started. We can assist you with ways to term jobs that will help you get the job you’re looking for.

    9:00 – 9:30 Welcome and workshop registration. (Let us know if you are HSP approved)

    9:30 – 10:00 Complete a Career inventory. This will help you look for jobs that will enjoy based on personality type    strengths and skills.

    10:00 – 10:30 Review job hunting tips, interview tips. Employment history concerns will be address.

    10:30–10:45 Create a professional email, learn how to use it and link to job search sites.

    10:45-11:30 Create a cover letter and the type of Resume that best highlights your assets. Upload it to your email    account and make copies. We can keep it on file here for you if you wish.

    11:30 – 11:45 Start your online job search.  We have many web job sites that are just a touch away.  Very easy access!

    11:45-12:00 Develop your own employment search plan and schedule follow-up training or search times.

    Congratulations! In a short time you’ve successfully started your job search. Appointments will be available to you for further individualized guidance. You may want to develop an “other” information sheet to put with your resume when job hunting. It may include professional and personal references, reminders on things to say. Workshop participants are better prepared to find employment. More & more jobs are posted on the internet and employers are requiring you use their online application process. Other workshops benefits include a calendar for planning, employment logs for recording purposes and peer support.

    You may return to Mental Health America, Recovery Network or the P.I.E.R.as much as needed for to assist you with developing job readiness skills, making telephone calls and using a computer. We recommend that you check you email at least twice a week. Time on the computer is unlimited for those using it for work purposes.  Please let us know of any other services that we can assist with such as computer education, typing or keyboard practice and mental wellness.  You will be assigned a primary contact person that can assist you achieve your goals!
