An Introduction to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in Behavioral Healthcare

  • This is a TWO DAY training: Tuesday Dec. 11 and Thursday Dec. 13. THERE IS NO TRAINING on Wednesday Dec. 12. Calendar limitations prevent us from being able to include separate days within a single event. 

    LGBTQIA+ populations of all ages disproportionately experience more instances of mental health and substance use disorders, suicidality, and poor wellbeing outcomes compared to their heterosexual and cisgender peers. LGBTQIA+ populations of all ages disproportionately experience more instances of mental health and substance use disorders, suicidality, and poor wellbeing outcomes compared to their heterosexual and cisgender peers. Content areas include definitions of sexual orientation and gender identity, mental and physical health, substance use treatment, and other health-related concerns for working with LGBTQIA+ populations. Best practices for providers and clinical considerations are also shared.

    Registration is free through a grant from Interact for Health, with an intended audience of professionals who work or reside in the following counties:

    • Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland, Warren
    • Kentucky: Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Pendleton
