This 6-hour training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. This course covers: Common signs and symptoms of mental illness Common signs and symptoms of substance use How to interact with a person in crisis How to connect the person with help NEW: How to administer naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose Classes are 100% virtual due to the ongoing pandemic. This includes ~2 hours of self-paced prework followed by a live (Zoom) portion taught by two co-instructors on the day of the class (5 hours of contact plus breaks).
